We're in the process of moving to a new place and we decided to cancel our TDS subscription. We've been TDS Curacao customers since the 80's but after the bad service that we have gotten the past few years, we decided that is was time to move to something else.
Either way, we called TDS and told them that we were moving and asked them if they could come and pick up their receiver. After an appointment was made to come pick up the receiver, we asked about getting our deposit (borg) back. The customer service representative then informed us that management has to hold a meeting first to decide when the deposit will be paid back. Let me repeat that. The management at TDS has to hold a meeting to decide when a customer's deposit, something that you are entitled to, will get paid back. It has been a few days and I still can't wrap my mind around this. The island's main cable service provider has to hold a meeting to decide when they can pay back an amoun that's less than 300 guilders, an amount that YOU ARE ENTITLED TO GET BACK. We have been a customer for over 20 years, paying the montly fees every single month, never missing a payment. Yet, our depostit can't be given back inmediately. The irony in all of this is that if you walk into TDS right now to take a subscription, you better make sure that you have the money on you to pay the deposit. There's no "meeting" for you to decide when you can pay that amount. You have to put that money on that counter very fast if you want to watch a few channels on your tv. This is probably one of the most absurd things that I have heard or seen on this island and that is saying something.
